Spring days are my absolute favorites. Laying in the sun, blooming flowers, fireflies... what's not to like? What always trips me up, though, is what to wear. You can only wear t-shirt dresses so many days in a row, and jean shorts are rarely comfortable. The question, then, is how does one stay fashionable and comfortable on those notoriously toasty spring days?
The answer? Athletic shorts. Now I know that literally every other college girl in the universe has already discovered these iconic Nike shorts, but I want to put a bit of a different spin on them. Instead of running sneakers and a t-shirt, why don't we wear graphic tees and vans, paired with some cool earrings? The result is a somewhat mismatched outfit that I actually think is pretty cool.
It's also super fun because generally athletic shorts are not seen as super 'fashionable.' But why not? They're clothes, aren't they? And not only that, but they're super trendy. So... fashion! Plus, you can throw a pair of hoops into almost any everyday outfit and it's instantly cuter (at least in this girl's humble opinion). In any case, there's definitely a space for athletic shorts in the fashion world.
The best part is that they're super comfortable. Plus, they're very easy to exchange for other comfortable athletic shorts - they don't just have to be your typical black ones. For example, if you want a bit more color in there, switch out the black Nikes for a red pair and wear some black high top Bangs. Or, if you're feeling particularly classy and daring, try an all white combination.
But whatever you do, don't forget to have fun, and take stuff out for a spin! I almost ditched these hoops last minute, but I'm so glad I didn't. They've been progressively growing on me all day, and I wouldn't have liked this outfit nearly as much if I hadn't taken the plunge.
And, if you can, carry around flowers all day. They can really improve your personal aesthetic. And, they smell good.
