It's possible that I got ahead of myself with all this talk of springtime, cause now it's right back to sweater weather. I was so ready for dresses and sandals and floral prints... such a bummer. Luckily, though, I just got new sweaters from The Stockplace and they have been helping me through this incredibly trying time. This windowpane sweater, especially, is one of my new favorites. The minimalist pattern and neutral color scheme is perfect, and it's super warm and cozy! 10/10 would recommend.
To totally veer from the topic of sweater weather, this week I’ve been thinking a lot about the identity of women in Christ, and who He created us to be. I’m amazed by the things I’ve been learning! The instigator for my contemplation has been the realization that although humans can’t create life, women are built to be ushers of God's life and creations. How amazing is that? What makes it even better is that our calling to bring life doesn’t extend to childbirth alone. We’re also called to bring life into other women, men, and the world. We’re ushers and catalyzers of life. Woohoo! Go ladies!
Unfortunately, women are known for tearing each other down, and we have continued to buy into that lie. We’re also told that being feminine, or just a woman, on some level, is weak or lame. But the opposite is true! Our wonderful gifting as women is to catalyze growth instead of buying in to jealousy, condescension, and negativity, whether that's towards ourselves or others. We’re actually created to be encouragers, lovers, and edifiers. I don’t know about you, but I just think all that sounds waaay more fun than tearing each other down and refuting our femininity. I want us to be so secure in our own womanhood that we can build each other up without fear of being overshadowed. Because, the fact is, if we’re being our own strong, beautiful, amazing woman of God, nobody can overshadow us! Conversely, we can’t overshadow anyone who is also tapping into their strong, beautiful, amazing WoG. It's a win - win!
Of course, this is all far easier said than done. Being secure in our womanhood requires us to be secure in God, and Jesus himself tells us this is not an easy path! But he does tell us it is the best one, and I’m rather inclined to believe the Almighty Ruler. Plus, God gave us a little gift to help us in our journey - each other. We’re not built to struggle through this alone, but learning through it together is such a joy!
And that’s part of what I want to do with Clothed in Gold; unite women of God so that we can all learn how to best root ourselves in Jesus so that we can flourish in our identity as daughters and brides of The King. I’m excited about this journey! I hope you guys are too 🙂
